TEAGUE, Willie L. "Bill" was born a coal miners son in the Great Depression in Eagan, TN. He was one of 10 children born to Frank Green Teague and Tempie Rutherford Teague who had battled Alzheimer's for the past two years and died August 2, 2011 at age 78 with his wife Cherry Teague at his side. He loved the military and joined the Marine Corps when he was old enough. Reaching the rank of Sergeant in only 13 months, he proved his leadership ability and was ready to go to Korea but the war ended just as he was preparing to go. He was an expert marks man and proudly gave his awards to his youngest brother who was a Marine on his way to Vietnam. Fentress County Commissioner for four years and elected county Judge/Executive in 1982. He was instrumental in getting the National Guard Armory in Jamestown, TN. Elected Vice-Chairman and the Chairman of the Upper Cumberland Development District. Jimmy Carter delegate to Democrat National Convention in 1980. 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, York Rite Mason and Shriner. Member of Gideons, International for many years and passed out hundreds of Gideon testaments to the 5th graders in Jamestown, TN. American Legion. He had a winning personality, natural born leader, strong work ethic, down to earth, treated all people equally, tremendous character and voice of reason who truly worked to help the people. Most of all he was a wonderful husband, father and had a spotless name of record of honesty. A Life Celebration service will be 12 Noon on Friday, August 5, 2011 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Burial to follow with Military Honors at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation, Active pallbearers, David Murphy, Bob Batson, Bill Gregory, Robert Gribble. Honorary pallbearers, William Teague, James Teague, Gerald Huddleston, Brenda Akin, Gene Pike. Visitation Thursday, 4-7 pm with a Masonic Service immediately following. Visitation will also be Friday, 11am until the time of service at HARPETH HILLS FUNERAL HOME 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221 615 646-9292.
