Vernon Oather Davis, Sr., "Pete", of Lafayette, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2016, at the age of 77. Vernon is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Davis (Carmouche), his parents, Frank and Tressie Davis, and sister, Pat Davis.
Vernon is survived by his children; Terry Davis, Jeff (Tammy) Davis, Vernon Davis Jr. "Boo", Tammy (David) Tinker and Lynn Baker, brothers; Frankie L. (Karen) Davis and Rusty (Debbie) Davis. Vernon is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
Vernon was born on September 28, 1938 in Birmingham, AL. He began working as a bartender in New Orleans and later as a mechanic/gas station owner and retired as a truck driver. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean War. Vernon was a "so called" deer hunter and enjoyed fishing, playing poker and other casino card games. He was a football fan and enjoyed watching the University of Alabama and the Chicago Bears. Vernon was an intelligent and outgoing man who was a loving father and husband. Vernon will be dearly missed by his family and by all those that knew him.
A Life Celebration for Vernon will be held at Crestview Funeral Home on Wendesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Crestview Memory Gardens.
