Vearlon Ray Brown

April 26, 1935 — August 5, 2024

Gallatin

Ray Brown, age 89, of Gallatin, Tennessee, entered into rest on August 5, 2024. He was born on April 26, 1935, to his parents L.R. and Mary Brown. Ray was raised in Cottontown, Tennessee, with his lifelong best friend, Forest Creekmore, they loved to go to the creek together and play baseball. He continued to play baseball for fun in an adult league. As a young man, Ray was married to the love of his life, Violet, on May 14, 1953. He and his sweetheart were thrilled to go dancing and ride motorcycles together. Ray was a prime example of work ethic. Not only was he a cattle farmer who tirelessly worked on the tractor, he also worked at the Ford Glass Plant for thirty-six and a half years. He was great friends with his co-workers Joe Inman and Jesse Bradley, who was also his neighbor. Larry Creasy was another great friend to Ray. They were fanatical about golfing and played countless games together.

Ray was very family oriented, and a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was crazy about his grandbabies. His memory will be cherished and he will be dearly missed.

Vearlon Ray Brown is survived by his daughters, Debbie Horton (Anthony), Sharon Davis (Brian); grandchildren, Aaron Horton (Christy), Benjamin Davis; great grandson, Christian Horton; and brother, Frank Carter (Sheila).

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Violet Ann (Walker) Brown; father, “L.R.” Lester R. Brown; mother, Mary C. (Sircy) Carter; stepfather, “Pop” Jack Carter; siblings, John Carter, Clay Brown, Bobby Brown, Carol (Brown) Grady, and Jean Brown.
