Trudy Gibbons

Trudy T. Gibbons, age 74 of Gallatin, passed away July 20, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Trudy was born on April 16, 1943 in Wheeling, WV to the late William Truxal and Elizabeth Doubleday Truxal. Though Trudy was born in West Virginia, life eventually took her to south Florida where she spent most of her life. She loved to draw and originally went to school to be a cartoonist. Spring time in Florida brings baseball teams doing their spring training and afforded her the opportunity to work with the New York Yankees, where she became friends with players like Joe Pepitone and Whitey Ford. After her years with the Yankees, she worked with the New York Stock Exchange in Fort Lauderdale. Trudy met her husband, Phil, and moved to Ocala, FL where they had a farm and trained horses for many years. Though she's lived in Tennessee now for 20 years, she has always considered Florida as her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Minnie and Harold Doubleday and brother, William "Buzzy" Truxal. She is survived by her husband, Phil Gibbons; daughter, Darci Gibbons; son and daughter in law, Kelly and Beth Leaird; grandsons, Ethan and Tyler Leaird and nephew, Steadman Truxal.
