Jean Higgins

Shelby Jean McCraw Higgins, 83, of Hendersonville, TN went home to heaven on January 15, 2025.

 Jean was born January 21, 1941, in Cowpens, South Carolina to Elton Charles and Guyneita McCraw. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Rev. Andrew Celton Higgins, Jr.

A graduate of Cowpens High School and Cecil's Business College, Jean married Andrew in November 1962 and started their family. She worked in banking before becoming a full-time homemaker. Together with her family they served churches in South Carolina, New Jersey, and Tennessee as well summer missionary work in South Carolina, Kansas, and Pennsylvania. Her devotion to serving the Lord truly defined her life.

 Jean loved to sew and garden. She was a Master Gardener and former member of the Middle Tennessee Daylily Society.

 She is survived by her daughter, Dana Higgins White and her adoptive daughter, Clara “Regail” Dewberry of Hendersonville, TN; granddaughters, Bethany Grace Campbell (Micah) of Pelzer, SC, and Hannah Hamrick (Chris) of Boiling Springs, SC; and six precious great-grandchildren, Malicah Campbell, of Logan, WV, Maliyah Campbell, Bryson Campbell, Micahla Campbell, of Pelzer, SC, Colton Hamrick, and Camden Hamrick, of Boiling Springs, SC. She will be deeply missed by her siblings Christine Wingo (Steve), of Prosperity, SC, Barbara Smith (Don) of Cowpens, SC, and Charles McCraw, of Greenville, SC.

 Jean was a true believer and her love for the Lord was evident. Her legacy of love will live on through her family. Her impact is everlasting on all those she encountered.
