KINNIE, Jr., Phillip B. LT CDR USN Ret -Age 79. July 26, 2011. Preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Kinnie, parents, Phillip and Frances Kinnie, brother, Oran Kinnie. Survived by son, Glenn Kinnie Lisa; brother, Tom Kinnie, Sr.; nephew, Tom Kinnie, Jr.; nieces, Ann Petty, Gina Bullington, Susan Parris and close and loving friend Barbara Tucker. He was attached to Submarine Squadron 3 based in San Diego, California and became a nuclear engineer. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and served on submarines, Lion, Fish, Sea Poacher, Sail Fish, Triton, Atule and Caiman. The Navy Achievement Award was given to him for the service on the Caiman. After retiring from the Navy, Phillip owned the Southern Excelsior Company where he made shredded paper for packing material. After 17 years he sold the business. Life Celebration Service will be 10:00 am Friday at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation Thursday 4-7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, or the American Lung Association
