SMITH, Nathan C., Jr. – Age 85, Franklin, January 16, 2012. A native of Nashville. He was a Veteran of WWII and served in Germany in the United States Army Signal Corp. He retired after 32 years from Vanderbilt University where he was campus electrical foreman in the plant of operations. He was also a member of Cross Point Community Church. Preceded in death by parents, Maude and Nathan C. Smith, Sr.; sister, Ruth Callis. Survived by his wife of 32 years, Elaine Smith; daughter, Michelle McWhorter; sons, Alan C. Smith, Nathan Cody Smith and Justin C. Smith; grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Kim Ross Miller, Amy Ross, Brad Smith, Haley Ciara Smith, MaKayla Dawn Smith and Jamie Lynn Smith; great-grandchildren, Courtney Michelle Kline, John Austin Miller, Matthew Thomas Miller, Andrew Thomas Bahur, Jackson Tyler Miller, Samuel Christian Miller, Sarah Louise Miller; brothers-in-law, Richard Lewis and Gary Lewis and several nephews and nieces. The life celebration service will be at 1pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Avenue Nashville, TN 37203 or American Heart Association, 1818 Patterson St, Nashville, TN 37203. Pallbearers: Cameron and Brad Smith, John Austin Miller, Richard and Gary Lewis, Lloyd Callis and John Bahur.
