Mattie Ruth West (Barton), of Castalian Springs, TN, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2016, at the age of 85. Preceded in death by her parents; Earl and Myrtle Barton, brothers; Floyd Barton, Lloyd Barton, Dean Barton and sister, Helen Tuck.
Survived by her loving husband, Willie Lee West, of 66 years, children; Billy (Loretta) West, Bobby (Freda) West, Jimmy (Peggy) West, grandchildren; Kristy West, Carrie (Terry) Cook, Tracy (James) Mostek, Kelly (Adam) Leath, Jimmy West II, Tyler West, Tayler West and great-grandchildren; Jayden, Brooklyn, Kyler, Kanen, Morgan, James, Jackson, Mason, Aiden and William. Mrs. West is also survived by many extended family and friends.
Mrs. West was born on June 5, 1931 in Paducah, TX to Earl Bransford Barton and Myrtle Holmes. She was a strong woman who loved to cook for her family with two favorite dishes being chocolate pie and banana pudding. She enjoyed making quilts, collecting dolls, camping and gardening. She was known to her family as being a meticulous housekeeper. Mrs. West was a devout member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church and as a young girl, she was saved at Union Camp. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed.
A Life Celebration for Mrs. West will be held at Crestview Funeral Home in Gallatin on Wednesday, October 26th at 12:00 PM, officiated by Brother Kenneth Summers and Brother Brent Hall. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25th from 3:00PM - 8:00PM, and again on Wednesday from 10:00AM-12:00PM. Interment to take place at Sumner Memoria Gardens.
