Mary Loraine Davis, 69, died on June 8, 2023 at Vanderbilt Hospital with her family at her bedside. She was born in Humboldt, Tennessee to Robert Mitchel Davis and Barbara Loraine Bourne on October 25, 1953. She grew up in Gallatin, Tennessee where she lived for 65 years. She attended Martin College and Scarritt College for Christian Workers earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. She did postgraduate work at Western Kentucky University in social work.
Mary Loraine was a member of First United Methodist Church in Gallatin for 65 years. She sang in the church choir and supported Music Camp for children. She volunteered for 58 years with Vacation Bible School and was commended for her service. Mary participated in the Shalom tutor program and also sang in the Hendersonville Community Chorus. Mary loved the color red, reading, playing the piano, line dancing, live theatre performances, group bus trips, and visiting with her friends and extended family. She traveled to multiple state parks and enjoyed attending family weddings in California and Kentucky.
She is survived by her cousins Frank Bowman, Jr., Herbert Bowman, Robert Bowman, David Gairhan,Jr., Peter Gairhan, Daniel Gairhan, Patricia Frierson, Beverly Hobson, Elizabeth Webb, and John Bourne.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 2 pm at Crestview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow immediately in the chapel at 3 pm. The Reverend James Johnson will be conducting the service.
Interment will be at the Crestview Memory Gardens next to her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church Gallatin General Fund or to the Music Camp or to a charity of your choice.
Mary’s family would especially like to thank Dr. Clayton MacConnell and his staff, Wesley Bonner, her faithful caregiver of 18 years, all of her caregiver team, longtime friends Bob and Barbara Snell, Sumner Regional Medical Center, Vanderbilt Hospital, and the Palliative Care Unit for everything they did for Mary Loraine. We will miss her.
