EDWARDS, Mark was born December 5, 1955, in Sweetwater, Texas to Walter Vernon Edwards and Kathleen Browning of Fisher County Texas. He died in Nashville, Tennessee on January 21, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mark attended school in Abilene, Texas and was active in band programs. He moved to Nashville in 1979 to play drums for Joe Sun. He had a long and fulfilling career as a drummer, playing for Lee Greenwood, Dottie West, T. Graham Browne, Davis Daniel as well as the comedy duo, Pinkard and Bowden. His career included numerous radio and TV shows such as HeeHaw, Austin City Limits and the Grand Ole Opry, as well as studio recordings for major labels. His final gig was playing drums for and managing singer songwriter, Jonell Mosser. Mark is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jana Kraner Edwards, son Austin 20 and daughter Erinne 17. In addition, he is survived by one brother, Thom Edwards and his wife, Tabatha Edwards of Nashville along with a sister, Susan Ussary and her husband Ray Ussary of Abilene, Texas. Additional survivors include Doug Browning uncle and his wife Bobbie Browning of Texas; Christine Edwards aunt of Texas; and five handsome nephews and four charming nieces. A memorial service to celebrate Mark's life will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 4:00 at Clarksville Highway Church of Christ. The family requests donations to Alive Hospice in Nashville in lieu of flowers.
