SOPER, Margaret Ellen Fowler- Age 70, of Franklin, Tennessee, died peacefully at Vanderbilt Hospital April 3, 2013 after a courageous battle against cancer. She was surrounded by loving family and close friends. Ellen is preceded in death by her father Frank Fowler, mother Catherine Fowler, brothers Sam, Bob, and Jim Fowler. She is survived by her brother John Fowler of Knoxville and sisters Louise Rob Daves of Minneapolis and Marie Bob Alcorn of Knoxville. She was blessed to be married to Dr. Brent Soper of Franklin for 49 years. They were truly inseparable. Their marriage produced three loving children, Laura Sharber Randy of Franklin, Paul Soper Stephanie of Nashville and Catherine
Womack Josh of Franklin. She was a loving wife, mother and a special grandmother to Will Sharber, Rachel Sharber, Caleb Sharber, Tristan Womack, Grayson Soper, Addie Womack and Maggie Soper. The grandchildren were truly her pride, and she was theirs. Ellen enjoyed traveling with Brent, family and friends. She was an avid supporter of the Tennessee Foreign Language Institute, serving on its Board of Directors for a number of years. She served on the Women's Council of the University of Tennessee. She was
an accomplished artist, gardener, photographer, and cook. She made everything beautiful around her. The family would like to thank Vanderbilt Hospital for their care, special friends Joan Walker, Randolph and Elaine Blake, and Rudy Jordan for being by her side, and all of Ellen's family and friends for their constant support and prayers. A Memorial service will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church on Sneed Road in Franklin on Saturday April 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m at the church. The Soper Family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Tennessee Foreign Language Institute or a favorite charity of your choice.
