Louis St. John

Louis J. “John” St. John, age 93 of Gallatin TN, passed away February 17, 2023. He was born in Charlotte Center, New York on October 7, 1929 to the late William Walter and Bernice Merchant St. John. He enlisted in the Navy in 1947. In 1951 he married Joyce Near of Sherman, NY. They had 4 children and were married for 38 years living in many different cities in the US. He was involved in the Korean War, retiring as Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. They moved to Sherman NY. Joyce passed away in 1989. He moved to Erin, TN. It was there he met Nadine Williams, and they were married in 1993 until she passed away in 2012. Louis moved to Gallatin, TN, and resided there until his passing. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and William St. John; sister, Viola St. John, and great- granddaughter, Lydia Chartier. He is survived by his four children, Linda Boyd, Ann Acquilano (RJ), David St. John, and Carolyn Reynolds (Paul), and numerous grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be on Tuesday February 21 at 11 am at Gallatin First United Methodist Church, with visitation from 10 am until time of service. There will be another celebration of life planned in Sherman, NY in the springtime.
