Mr. Liston “Buddie” Lamport, Jr. age 92, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 9, 2021. He was born in Memphis, TN on September 19, 1928 to the late Liston Lamport, Sr. and Dorothy Grace Lamport. He is also preceded in death by one grandson, Peter Williams.
Buddie retired from Texas Gas Transmission Corporation in 1986. He and his wife, Kathleen moved from Southaven, MS to Gallatin in 1992 to be closer to their daughter and her family. Members of Gallatin First United Methodist Church, Buddie had been attending Long Hollow Baptist Church Gallatin Campus over the last few years. With failing health, he enjoyed listening to online services.
Buddie was a member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple in Memphis and had dual membership with Millington Masonic Lodge #671 and King of Solomon Masonic Lodge #6, achieving his 70th year pin. He served several years with the Honor Guard of American Legion Post 17.
Buddie was a World War II and Korean War Veteran, serving a total of five years in the United States Navy.
Buddie loved his family and was their biggest supporter. He enjoyed the friendships of those he had made throughout his life as well as the new ones cultivated after his move to Gallatin.
Buddie is survived by his wife of almost 71 years, Mrs. Kathleen Lamport; daughter, Pam (Larry) Williams; grandchildren, Drew (Kimberly) Williams and Haley (Dustin) Bandy; great grandchildren, Jordan, Josie and Jaxton Bandy; Emmy Grace and Whitt Williams. He is also survived by one sister, Martha Jean Wilder and her family, and sister-in-law, Barbara (Jimmy) Bell and her family.
A life celebration will be held at 2pm, Thursday, July 15th in the chapel of Crestview Funeral Home with burial at Crestview Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
If desired, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children or a church/charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank the Veterans Administration Hospitals of Gallatin, Alvin C York Campus in Murfreesboro and Nashville Campus, Dr. Benjamin Tillman, Dr. Henderson-Fitts, Dr. Trent Wallace, Stephanie Urell, FNP, White House Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and Adoration Home Health and Hospice. Also a host of friends- too numerous to list.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Larry Williams, Drew Williams, Dustin Bandy, Derrick Bandy, David Bandy, Keith Troutt, and Harold Ray Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be King Solomon Masonic Lodge #6.
