Linda Keck Jones of Nashville, TN died November 26, 2010 after a courageous fight with ovarian cancer. Survived by loving children, Tarpley Brooks Jones, Jr. and Madison Keck Jones both of Nashville, TN and her siblings Kathy Keck and Larry Keck both of New Tazewell, TN. She is the daughter of the late Forrest and Mourine Keck.
Linda received her B.S. and Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences, Memphis. After completing a Residency in Nutritional Support, Linda accepted a position on the Nutrition Support Team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1983. In addition to her clinical practice, she served as an adjunct clinical faculty member for the University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy, teaching pharmacy students in parenteral nutrition. Linda was active in many professional organizations and served as President of the Nashville chapter of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition ASPEN and Pharmacy Chairman for the American Society Hospital Pharmacy Special Interest Group in Intravenous Therapy. Most notable, Dr. Jones served as the national Pharmacy Chairman of ASPEN, as the first female Chairman.
After leaving her professional life to raise her children, Linda was active in her children's schools and community service. She served on the Friends Board of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt for many years and served as President of Friends in 2006-2007. Linda was nominated by Friends for the Mary Catherine Strobel Award in 2005. Linda was a sustaining member of JLN and was a member of Woodmont Christian Church.
Linda and her family want to thank her surgical oncologist, Dr. John Wheelock, and his staff for dedicated care. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodmont Christian Church 3601 Hillsboro Road, Nashville, TN. Honorary Pallbearers include: Robin Satyshur, Judi Smith, Janetta Fleming, Cathy Altenbern, Sandra Earthman, Kelly Williams, Melanie Baker, Susan Ramsey, Barbara Turner, Susan Campbell, and Jill Harvey. In lieu of flowers, Linda requested donations be made to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt c/o Vanderbilt Gift Processing Office, PMB 407727, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, TN 37240-7727.
