It is with great sadness that the family of Laura Ames Acord announces her passing on 2/13/11 at the age of 46. Ms. Acord was predeceased by her father, Ralph Ames. She is survived by her loving husband, Matthew Acord Nashville; mother, Carol Ames Webster NY; parents-in-law David and Ramona Acord Dayton OH; sisters Cindy Ames Irondequoit NY; Judy Ames and partner Laura Whitbeck Irondequoit NY; Chris Ames Whitlock and husband Jonathan Bernardsville NJ; Kathy Ames Morris and husband Steven Canastota NY; Tricia Ames Fischer and husband Daniel Pittsford NY. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews and one great-nephew.
Ms. Acord was born in Rochester, NY and attended the State University of New York at Buffalo. She was a creative individual who worked within the music industry as an orchestra administrator. Among the many orchestral organizations for whom she worked were: Buffalo Philharmonic; Poughkeepsie Orchestra; St. Paul Chamber Orchestra; New York Philharmonic; Soviet-American Youth Orchestra; American Composers Orchestra; and the New York Pops. In recent years she focused on a career in marketing administration. She was a 9/11/2001 survivor, having escaped World Trade Center Tower 2 where she was working for Deutsche Bank.
