SMITH, Thurman "Kayo", age 72 of Nashville, passed away October 3, 2009. Mr. Smith was a retired court officer with Division II Criminal Court, he was an avid golfer and volunteered at McCabe Golf Course, and served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Rucker, Alabama during the Berlin Crisis. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Schlan. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruby Smith; daughters, Jill Smith and Gina Tim Fox; special grandson, Bryant Smith Fox; brothers, Charles Linda Smith and Edward Smith; sister, Evelyn Barber; and mother-in-law, Emma Greer. Active pallbearers will be Charlie Anderson, Randall Wyatt, Red Baird, Benny Burns, Hubert Spears, Les Moore, Frank Parrish, Roy Clary, and Buddy Hickman. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Mazor, the Capital City Golf Association, Criminal Court Div. II Staff, McCabe Golf Course Staff, Sweathogs, Dr. Craig Sussman, Dr. Rick Bennett and Dr. Thomas Bartlett. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 7th at 2:00 P.M. at the Bellevue Church of Christ with Bro. David Peeler officiating. Interment will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rochelle Center, Nashville Christian School, or Churches of Christ Disaster Relief. Visitation with the family will be at Bellevue Church of Christ on Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at the church.
