J.W. Wiseman, age 85 of Gallatin, passed away on Tuesday, January 20 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. A native of Sumner County, he was born to the late Owen and Nannie Wiseman. Mr. Wiseman served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Wiseman landed on Omaha Beach where he received 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and numerous other medals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Gentry. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Wiseman of Gallatin, daughter, Debbie Hobdy Danny of Gallatin, granddaughter, Elizabeth Hobdy of Gallatin, step-grandsons; William Hobdy of Cincinnati, OH, Danny Hobdy Jr. of Old Hickory, sister, Connie Keen of Spring Hill, FL, and special cousin Betty Briley of Portland. Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 23 at 1:00 P.M. from the chapel of Gallatin Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Hall and Rev. Billy Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Halltown Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Holleman, Jackie Farley, and Daniel Adams. Harold Kemp, Jake Thompson, Lloyd Wiseman, Claude George, Bradley Jones, and Walter George will serve as active pallbearers. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. and will resume on Friday at 11:00 A.M. until service time. Online condolences may be submitted at www.gallatinfuneralhome.com.
