John Jack Fox died Dec. 9 after a long illness. He was 76.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., June 14, 1933 to Ann and John Fox and married his loving and beloved wife, Cathie, June 21, 1958.
Jack graduated from West Catholic High School in Philadelphia and graduated cum laude from St. Joseph's University in 1959 after serving in the U.S. Army. After school he worked for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., before accepting a position with First American National Bank in Nashville where he was the executive vice president and chief financial officer until he retired in 1992.
A devout Catholic all of his life, Jack was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church for 37 years. His life reflected his deep faith as evidenced by the generosity of his time and treasure to the many organizations he served including St. Henry's, the Diocese of Nashville, Catholic Charities, St. Thomas Hospital, the Dominican Campus, Father Ryan High School, St. Matthew School and United Way.
Jack's family and friends will miss his sharp wit, sage advice and kind spirit. We feel blessed to have had him in our lives and take comfort in knowing that he is at peace.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cathie; children John Kathy Neus, Mike Sara, Peter, Kathy Whitney Russell, Ann Cannon Rob, Joan Fox Rodney Mann and Beth Fox; sisters Elizabeth Mulcahy Francis and Anne Fox; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Dec. 13, at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6401 Harding Road, Nashville. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Dec. 14, at St. Henry, followed by internment at Harpeth Hills Cemetery.
