Janice Yvonne (Ashworth) Powers, 72, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, February 23, 2020, after a four-year battle with multiple myeloma.

Janice was born on June 11, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Mary Pauline and William Arthur Ashworth. She was the firstborn of five children, who survive her; Tony (Teresa) Ashworth, Larry (Blythe) Ashworth, Terry (Dene) Ashworth, and Shelia (Tommy) Mullis.

She graduated from Hume Fogg High School in Nashville, and received a bachelor's degree in business from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. She married Dan Wilson Powers at the age of 19 and they were married for 32 years.
They had three children who survive her; Dana Powers and fiancé Brandon, Rachel (Lawren) Lassiter, and Cody Powers. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Bryce, Silas, Aidan, Savannah, Leyton and Liam, who adored their "Neena."

She worked as a human resources manager for ITW-CIP in Gallatin for more than 20 years. During her time at ITW-CIP, she spearheaded many fundraisers for the community, including United Way of Sumner County and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. She made several lifelong friends there and enjoyed planning the company's annual employee picnics and Christmas parties.

Janice was also extremely creative. She was an excellent artist. Painting, cross-stitching and cooking were her passions. She was humble about these gifts and used them to bless others with amazing homemade lasagnas, strawberry cakes, allergy-free cupcakes she mastered for her grandson, Leyton, and paintings and furniture she decorated for her children and other family members. Most important, she was a follower of Jesus Christ, and depended on His word and prayer to sustain her throughout the hardest and most joyful times in her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Jimmy Reeder. She is survived by her brothers and sister, numerous nieces and nephews, and grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, February 27th at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Crestview Funeral Home with Rev. John Penfield officiating.
