WATTS, James Walton "Speedy", age 87 of Pegram, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on January 4, 2009 while surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Luna Watts, and four brothers. Speedy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Effie Lydia "Sis" Watts; children, Mickey Sandra Watts, Linda Carl Connelly, Betty Watts, Carl Watts, Kenny Lisa Watts, and Tina Charles Morehead; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell Watts, and several nieces and nephews. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy, SeaBees branch during World War II. During that time he met his bride. When they returned to Tennessee, he drove a truck for Neuhoff Packing Company for 36 years and Yellow Freight for 6 years. He was an ordained deacon and currently a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. In addition to his family, he loved coon hunting and mule-pulling. Known as "Pops" to his family, he is now in peace with the Lord. The family would like to thank Dr. John Gibson for his devoted care. Active pallbearers are grandsons, David Ford, Gabe Watts, Keith Odom, Jason Watts, Nathan Watts, Jeremy Watts, and grandson-in-laws, Mike Hagan and Michael Wilson. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 7 at 1:00 P.M. from the chapel of West Harpeth Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Shelton and Dr. Red Michels officiating. Interment will follow in Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery.
