James Johns Thomas, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee on January 18, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on October 26, 1947, in Nashville, he was a lifelong resident of middle Tennessee where he made countless memories with family and friends.

James was deeply passionate about the outdoors, finding joy and peace in the beauty of nature. His love for all things outdoors was well-known among those who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 44 years, Linda Thomas, whose partnership and love were the foundation of his life. Their bond was a testament to a marriage filled with mutual respect, shared adventures, and unwavering support. James is also survived by his children, Tina (Daniel) Rutherford, Sport (Staci) Thomas, Kenneth (Lorie) Watkins, and Rachel (Cliff) Garrison; each of whom carries forward his legacy of kindness, laughter, and resilience.

James was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride. He was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, creating a family tree that he nurtured with love and affection. His presence and influence will be felt throughout many generations.

Additionally, James is survived by his sister, Debbie Ridings, who shared countless memories with him throughout their lives.

James Johns Thomas will be lovingly remembered for his remarkable spirit and the profound impact he had on his family and friends. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
