James Leslie Milliner

James Leslie Milliner, age 82, of Gallatin, TN went to be with the Lord on January 13th, 2025. James was born on July 28th, 1942, in Louisville, KY to the late Marvin and Allie Milliner. He is also preceded in death by his son Jonathan Milliner. James is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Regina Milliner. He is also survived by his daughters Angie Hendricks and Jenny Hallman, and his grandchildren: Rachel Sarkissian (Vartan), David Hendricks (Victoria), Caleb Hendricks (Jennifer), Kayla Hendricks, Jessica Hardin (Chris), Sarah Lawrence (Josh), Katherine East (Justin), and Sarah Milliner. James also leaves behind ten great grandchildren: Savannah, Arman, Gabriel, Elizabeth, Alexandra, John, Abigail, Wyatt, Walker, and Cole, as well as his sister Janet Pile (Larry).

James had a successful career as a plant engineer at Vol State Community College, where he served diligently until his retirement. His technical expertise and leadership were well-known, and he was respected by colleagues and students alike. In addition to his engineering career, James was deeply involved in the local radio community. He dedicated a lot of his time to 88.5FM WVCP Radio, contributing significantly to ensure that the broadcast ran round the clock. His talents extended to the construction of the radio station, showcasing his dedication to his passion for radio. Not only was he an expert with the radio, but James also had a passion for fixing things, especially cars and was particularly skilled at working on transmissions. In his free time, he liked sitting back and listening to the weather forecast. It was a keen interest of his, studying and understanding how the weather worked. He also volunteered with the NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, by helping with climate monitoring and protecting life and property through accurate weather and water forecasts and warnings. He also enjoyed aviation and planes, making sure that it was a clear day for all fellow aviation fans, and especially for him when it came time to see the Blue Angels Air Show, a fond memory of his.

A man of strong Christian faith, James served as a deacon for the Worldwide Church of God for many years. He devoted over two decades to running audio as their sound engineer, a role that highlighted his commitment to serving the church community with humility and grace.

James will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for his vibrant personality. He was known for his great sense of humor and funny anecdotes that brought joy to those around him. With a heart of gold, he showed immense kindness and care, leaving a lasting impact on his family and friends. James’ greatest accomplishment of all would be his family. He would marry the love of his life on September 16th, 1960, and the two would go on to create a life filled with love and memories. Among his treasured memories, his grandchildren fondly recall the time spent riding bikes with him, moments that exemplified his playful spirit and loving nature.

James Leslie Milliner's life will be celebrated with visitation services at Crestview Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation in Gallatin, Tennessee. The visitation will take place on January 17, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and continue January 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, leading to his interment at 2:00 PM on the same day.
