Hornsby, James Clinton – Age 80 of Hendersonville, went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2013. He was born in Fulton County, GA on August 30, 1932 to the late Roy M. and Gussie Stone Hornsby. He was a proud graduate of Georgia Tech, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He went to work for DuPont retiring after 42 years of service. While there he helped create a product that saved many lives which is used today by military, police, and firefighters. He was a man of faith with Christian values. In 1994, he became a Gideon and later served as a deacon and on the benevolence committee for many years for Hendersonville First Baptist Church. He was a man of his word and the true definition of integrity. Mr. Hornsby was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by step-grandson, Eric Bryan. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gayle Norton Hornsby; son, Joseph R. Hornsby; daughter, Gina Hornsby Deakins; grandchildren, Tiffany Woodard, Emily Love, Anna Deakins, and Alex Hornsby; 6 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Chloe Bryan, Heaven Stewart, Boston Woodard, London Woodard and Scarlett Love. Services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. Visitation on Wednesday from 5-8 PM and on Thursday from 12-1 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
