James Odell "Smoky" Baskerville, age 85 of Portland, passed away April 19, 2019 at his home. Mr. Baskerville was born in Portland, TN on January 12, 1934 to the late Wade Augustus Baskerville and the late Cammie Elizabeth Branham Baskerville. Mr. Baskerville owned and operated Baskerville Auto Salvage for over 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, was an avid coon hunter, a NASCAR fan, he enjoyed having get-togethers and cookouts, but most of all he loved his family. The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Highpoint Hospice for their care of Mr. Baskerville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his partner in life, Betty Baskerville; children, Brenda Gonzalez and Keith Baskerville; siblings, Nellie Juanita "Johnny", Dorothy, Lucille, Virginia, Wade, Jr., and Bobby. He is survived by his children, Sheila Mitchell, Melody Waddle (Farmer), Tina Barber (Kevin), Phillip Baskerville (Judy), and Toni Constant (John); 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; and siblings, Billy, Michael, Anita, Theda, Peggy, and Connie. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 23rd at 12:00 P.M. with Bro. W.T. Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with James Green, Shawn Mitchell, Johnny Sloan, Rocky Baskerville, Farmer Waddle, and Nicky Baskerville serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 4-8 P.M. and Tuesday from 10 A.M. until service time at 12 P.M.
