Georgianna H. Fortier

Georgianna Fortier, age 66, of Old Hickory, entered into rest on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at home with her family by her side.

Georgianna was born on February 8, 1958, to her parents Oneida and Henry McKoin Jr, in Gallatin, Tennessee. She was one of nine children.  Georgianna was later married to Lee Fortier, on June 21, 1986.

Georgianna attended Austin Peay State University, where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree, and later obtained her master’s and educational specialist degree from Middle Tennessee State University.  She was a teacher for 30 years and had retired from DuPont Tyler Middle School, as a seventh-grade math teacher. Georgianna was passionate about education and a stellar educator. She mentored her fellow teachers and was known to cook entire potlucks for her students. Of course, her family was also gifted by her heart of gold. Georgianna loved to host during the holidays. You could count on Georgianna for a laugh and an incredible meal. She was always caring for others; truly thoughtful, loyal, and dependable. In the little leisure time she had, Georgianna enjoyed gardening in her flower beds, trout fishing, and spending time on the beach.

She was a loving wife, mother, gigi, sister and aunt. To know her was to love her, and she will be dearly missed.

Georgianna Hitchcock (McKoin) Fortier is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Lee Fortier; son, Tom (Caitlyn) Fortier; granddaughter, Kennedy Fortier; siblings, Virginia Cothron, Oneida McKoin, David McKoin, John McKoin, James (Paula) McKoin, William McKoin, Mary Wright; sister-in-law, Jolin McKoin; nieces, Jodi Gammons, Julie Cook; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry McKoin Jr.; mother, Norma Oneida (McCaleb) McKoin; and brother, Henry McKoin lll. 

Visitation will be held at Crestview Funeral Home on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until time of her funeral service at 1:00 P.M.. Interment in Crestview Memory Gardens will immediately follow the funeral service.
