Frank "Sonny" Hester- age 75 of Cottontown, passed away April 23, 2015. He was born on November 25, 1939 to the late Douglas and Virginia Hester of Gallatin, TN. Sonny, as everyone knew him, was a man of the Lord and a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church, but attended several other area churches.
Throughout his life he was an entrepreneur owning an automotive repair shop in Hendersonville, TN; founding and operating Warren County Recycling in Bowling Green, KY; and he and his wife T.J. have been involved in expedited transportation over the past several years.
When remembering Sonny the first thing that comes to mind is Gallatin Green Wave Football. For more than 40 years he was involved with filming their games. Sonny was an avid hunter of all game but as a young man he enjoyed competition coon hunting and raised several winning dogs. When he wasn't watching football or hunting he was involved with Roller Pigeons. At one point he served as the Southeast Regional Director of the NBRC. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Ann "T.J." Hester; children, Doug Smith, John (Amy) Hester , Christy (Scott) Murphy, Frankie (Dan) Smallwood, Steve (Lynn) Collins, Charles (Connie) Collins, and Robert (Freda) Hill; grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Johnny Hester, Joey Hester, Ariel Murphy, Colton Murphy, Dominic Austin, Logan Smallwood, Kira Smallwood, Andrew Collins, James Collins, Christian Collins, and Coy Hill.
A life celebration service will be held on Saturday at 1p.m. in the chapel of Crestview Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crestview Memory Gardens.
