MITCHELL, Frances Marie. Marie was born in Dover, Tennessee on October 23, 1922. After graduation from Austin Peay University, she enjoyed a long career teaching in Middle Tennessee, primarily second grade. She taught for over thirty 30 years, many at Harpeth Valley and Gower Elementary Schools. She influenced the lives of countless children, finally teaching the children of students that she had taught earlier in her career. She was a long-standing and faithful member of the South Harpeth and Bellevue Churches of Christ. Marie and Albert Louie Mitchell were married for fifty-eight 58 years and reared their two children in the Bellevue community. Her final years of life were spent at the Waterford and Richland retirement centers. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruby Coppedge Williams and John Williams, granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Kurtz, and her husband Albert. She is survived by her children Melissa Blackburn Gary of Nashville and Dr. John Holly Mitchell of Charleston, South Carolina. She was also blessed by surviving grandchildren Emily Kurtz, Rachel and Joshua Mitchell, Catherine Kinsey and Ben Blackburn, great-grandchildren Evie & Davis Kinsey and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their love to Deenie Hoolihan, Marie's dear friend of sixty 60 years and to Rick Heneger, who brought friendship and joy to her final years. Heartfelt gratitude also extended to the staff at Waterford of Bellevue and The Health Center at Richland for their love and care over the last 4 years."What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God" Marie Mitchell was laid to rest by her family on November 21, 2012. A service celebrating her well-lived life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Bellevue Church of Christ. The family asks that gifts be made in lieu of flowers to Alive Hospice or Bellevue Church of Christ.
