MILLER, "Amy", Evelyn W. – Age 86, much beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 with her family and loved ones by her side. She faced her illness with grace, strength, and a fighter's spirit. Amy was born in Memphis on July 28, 1925 into a loving home anchored by her beloved mother, Evelyn Beare. She grew up in Jackson, TN in a loving, extended family. She attended St. Mary's Elementary School, Jackson High, and graduated from Lambuth University. After college she worked as a hostess on the GM and O Railway and later served as the secretary for the Maid of Cotton. She met and married her husband, Frederick William Miller in 1954, who predeceased her in 1989. They moved to Nashville in 1960. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Leslie Ann Miller, and Mary Miller Harrison. She was a longtime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and most devoted to her faith. She was active in the community, but relished her role as mother and homemaker. She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Miller and Mary Harrison, her husband Stephen; grandchildren, William F. Harrison, Holley A. Harrison; beloved brother Richard Beare, her uncle John Weatherly, four nieces, two nephews; and a most beloved cousin, Florence Hornsby. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at St. Ann's Catholic Church at 5101 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN. Visitation will occur one and a half hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Afterwards, a luncheon will be held at 9094 Poplar Creek Rd., Nashville, TN 37221. Donations may be made to the Nashville Humane Association or the American Lung Association.
