MANGRUM, Evelyn Coral- Age 93, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on July 5, 2013. Mrs. Mangrum was born March 30, 1920 in Wilson County to the late George H. and Myrtle E. Stonecipher Pennington. She spent her childhood years in the Rome community of Smith County.
She is preceded in death by her husband Eulis H. Mangrum and brothers, John G. Pennington and James H. Pennington.
Mrs. Mangrum, with her interest in serving others, began her nursing career at McFarland Hospital in Lebanon, Tn. She continued as a Registered Nurse for 40 years at St. Thomas and Baptist Hospitals. Mrs. Mangrum was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed participating in many mission trips and found such pleasure in working outdoors with her garden and flowers.
Survived by son, Henry J. Mangrum of Nashville; daughter, Mary E. Mangrum, Southern Baptist Missionary who resides in the Republic of Panama; daughter, Phyllis Roy Craig; granddaughter, Dana Mike Jones; grandson, Ronald Julie Craig; great-granddaughters, Rachel Jones and Addison Craig all of Lebanon; brother, Clyde Frances Pennington of Nashville; sister, Dorothy Dies of Lebanon.
Family and friends will serve as Active Pallbearers. A life celebration service will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Duck and Rev. Robert Hammer officiating. Interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice or American Cancer Society.
