Bourland, Elizabeth Libby Core- Age 58 of Nashville. May 20, 1950 – March 24, 2009. Devoted wife, mother, teacher, and friend. Preceded in death by her father, Robert Love Core of Madison, Tennessee. Survived by mother, Mozelle Adams Core, husband, John Tilden Bourland, and her sons, John Bevington Bearden Elena of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Core Bearden Shelly, Tilden Cole Bourland; sister, Camille Core Gift Dan, and a host of loving nieces and nephews, family members, and friends. She was a graduate of The Harpeth Hall School, class of 1968 and Vanderbilt University, class of 1972. Libby was a dedicated, beloved seventh grade English teacher at Montgomery Bell Academy, who inspired her students and colleagues. Everyone who came in contact with Libby deeply cherishes her wit, gentleness, and grace that she humbly displayed each day. Visitation will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Thursday, March 26th from 5:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, March 27th from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.. The service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Private graveside service.
Pallbearers are Daniel Thomas Gift Jr., Peter English Bourland, Thomas Campbell Bourland, David Bourland Jolly, Lee Bernard Jolly, Ryan Peter Conner, Albert Jackson Dale IV, Andrew Hilry Dale, Bryan Shaffer Dale, and Frank Williamson Blair IV.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the school of one's choice, Alive Hospice, The Susan G. Komen- A Race for the Cure, or the charity of one's choice.
