Edwin Lewis Daland, age 90 of Gallatin, Tennessee and formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away January 31, 2017. Mr. Daland was born in Battle Creek on September 2, 1926 to the late Clifton G. Daland and Albertha P. Baker (Pieters).
He graduated from Battle Creek High School and attended Western Michigan University. Eventually he went to work for the Grand Trunk Railroad where he was employed for over 30 years until his retirement in 1986. In search of a warmer climate, he and his late wife, Virginia, moved to Gallatin in 1988. After moving to Tennessee they attended Trinity Lutheran Church; Edwin also enjoyed volunteering at Sumner Regional Medical Center and was a member of the Music City Chapter of the Train Collectors Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lee Daland (Moore); stepfather, John Baker and brothers, William Daland and John Baker. He is survived by his daughters, Carol A. Dell (Stephen), Tomalee M. Deluhery and Janiece D. Hamblen (Richard); brother, Cork Baker (Betty); sister, Chris Bartley (Lyn); grandchildren, Susanne Albaitis, Jennifer Norman (Adam), Brandon Deluhery (Jessica), Karen Porter (Drew), Heidi Holman and Bradley Holman; and 12 great-grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Daland was cremated. His family will hold a service in Michigan at a later date.
