Eddie Gilbert "Red", age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Portland, TN, on Thursday, December 15, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents; Charlie and Avo Gilbert, brothers; Tommy, Charlie, J.W. and Hub, sisters; Peggy Joyce, Dot, Ann, Edna and daughter, Shelly Belcher.
Survived by his beloved wife, Pat, of 55 years, children; Cindy Wolf, Vicki Severs (Steve), Danny Gilbert (Deb) and Lisa Cornwell, grandchildren; Johnna, Daylan, Dusti, Molly, Cory, Caleb, Charlie and B.J. along with 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Linda Fleming, his dog, "Sandi" and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Eddie was born on April 25, 1940 in Nashville, TN. He was a truck driver for Ferguson Trucking and also owned Gilbert Auto Shop. Eddie was a racing fan, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. Eddie was a man of strong faith and a member of Free Indeed Church in Gallatin. He was a best friend to his wife Pat and a loving father and grandfather. Eddie will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Life Celebration service for Eddie will be held at Crestview Funeral Home on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 1:00PM. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 1PM-6PM and again on Monday, one hour prior to service. Burial will take place at Crestview Memory Gardens.
