Douglas D. Harris-age 80 of Gallatin, TN went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2016.
He was born in Nashville, TN on October 30, 1935 to the late Lloyd and Christine Harris. He loved the Lord and was a man of deep faith throughout his life. He was a devoted member of The Church of God Worship and Ministry Center where he played the organ for more than 20 years. He had a passion for food and was known for his cooking. His children have fond memories of him in the kitchen preparing dinner when they were kids, and his mother always doing the dishes afterwards. Douglas was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Wilma Harris. He is survived by his sister, Helen Vaughn; sons, Dewayne Harris (Mara) and Shane Harris (Christy); grandson, Mason Harris (Lauren); granddaughters, Tanya Stiltner and Tina Blankenship and their children; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Claire Harris.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, at 11am in the chapel of Crestview Funeral Home with Pastor Mason Harris and Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday June 22, 2016 from 4-8pm, Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 4-8pm, and Friday, June 24, 2016 from 10-11am at Crestview Funeral Home 1623 Hwy 109 North Gallatin, TN 37066 615-452-1943 crestviewfh.com.
