DAWSON, Betty Sue Hall Age 81, Saturday, March 14, 2009. Preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Haden Dawson, Nashville, TN; one sister, Myra DeLones, Burns, TN; two brothers, Billy Hall, Manchester, TN and Malcolm Hall, Charlestown, IN. Survived by daughters, Susan Valeria Dawson and Janice Carolyn Dawson; sisters, Ruth Marie Hall, Nashville, TN and Norma Harris, Franklin, TN; nieces and nephews. She was born in Burns, TN, on February 17, 1928, to the late William Crawford Hall and Susie Mabel Sager. She attended Burns Elementary School, played varsity basketball and graduated from Dickson County High School in 1946. She was employed by the TN Department of Health, Personnel Office, from 1947-1964. She left work to be a devoted homemaker to her beloved husband and daughters. Her love for children led to a home-based child care career from 1973-1987. She eloquently composed her memoirs of life during the Depression, traced her family genealogy back to the 1500's, and hand-pieced a quilt for each daughter, using their childhood clothing. She was a member of the Burns United Methodist Church for 32 yrs., Park Ave Baptist Church for 28 yrs., and most recently, McKendree United Methodist Church, Excelsior Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Reverends Tom Halliburton and Ron Patterson officiating. Nephews will serve as Active Pallbearers. Interment will be at the Hall Family Cemetery, Montgomery Bell State Park, Burns, TN. Memorial may be made to American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN, 37203, Gilda's Club Nashville, 1707 Division St., Nashville, TN, 37203, or McKendree United Methodist Church, 523 Church St., Nashville, TN 37219. Visitation with the family will be Monday, 5-8 pm and Tuesday, 12 noon until time of service at WEST HARPETH FUNERAL HOME 6962 Charlotte Pk 615 352-9400
