Mr. Anthony “Tony” Askew, age 56, of Portland, went to be with his Father in Heaven on September 23, 2021. He was born on July 22, 1965 in Anniston, AL to Warren L. Askew, Sr. and Shirlene Clark Askew.
Tony was an avid outdoorsman with fishing being his lifelong passion. Everyone who knew Tony knew his love for fishing and hunting, especially with his son. Always cheerful, his infectious smile always made you feel warm and welcomed. It’s a smile that would light up a room. He had such a kind spirit toward everyone he met. He truly brought so much joy and love to others and never met a stranger. His kindness and goodness preceded him everywhere he went. To know Tony is to love Tony. He was such a loving husband and dad first. Nothing made him happier than sharing his legacy of knowledge and goodness with his wife and children and most likely others as well. He often said how graciously blessed he was to have received such an outstanding upbringing. In addition, you knew it was football season when Tony began chanting “Roll Tide” to everyone he encountered for the day. Not only was he a loving and devoted husband and father but also son, son-in-law, PawPaw, brother, brother-in-law and friend to many and will be truly missed.
Tony is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mrs. Tina Kemp Askew; children; Laura Streich (child Percy), Isaiah L. Askew (wife Kayla) and Zachary T. Lawrence (wife Mekayla and children Peyton, Paisley, Paxton and Piper); parents, Warren L. Askew, Sr. and Shirlene Askew; siblings, LaSonya Doleman, Jewell Anthony (husband Terry), Kimberly Thomas (husband Eric), and Warren Askew, Jr. (wife Erica). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
“I thought of you with Love today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday and the day before that too. Your memory is my keepsake, with which I’ll never part. God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.”
Visitation for family and friends of Tony will be held Tuesday, September 28th at Crestview Funeral Home at 1623 Highway 109 North, Gallatin, TN from 5-8pm.
