ALLEN ROGER DOUGLAS, age 80 of Hendersonville, Wednesday, January 19, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hesker Louis and Molly Florence Henry Douglas, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He graduated from the 8th grade at Schwab School, attended Issac Litton High School and earned his GED while serving in the U S Navy, he graduated from the Nashville Auto Diesel College, attended classes at Volunteer State Comm. College and Brevard Co. Comm. College in Melbourne, Fla. He served in the U S Nave during the Korean War,. He was a plumber, carpenter, home mechanic and a jack of all trades. Member of the N.A.C.L., a Letter Carrier for the Madison Post Office for 16 years, served on the Beer Board and the Parks Board for the City of Hendersonville in the late 1960's, a member of the D.A.V. and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Childress Douglas; sons, Mike and Kerry Douglas; daughter Anita Douglas Jim Richards; grandson. Sean April Douglas; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jake Douglas; sister; Pat Vance. His family will receive friends from 2 – 4 & 6 –m 8 P.M. on Thursday January 20 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. on Friday, January 21 from the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Wilburn and Bro. Ralph Hodge officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to Holiday Heights Baptist Church.
